Debbie’s Previous Book – The Picture

Denise is furious to discover that the beach house she purchased sight unseen, from whom she thought was a trusting real estate agent, is actually a ramshackle hovel. She soon meets Daniel, a high school senior on a victory lap, who Denise hires to make her property habitable again. She and Daniel begin to spend a great amount of time together when Daniel’s classmate, Amy, steals from Daniel’s cell phone a private picture of Denise he had surreptitiously taken. With it, Amy blackmails Daniel into dating her. However, her plan is thwarted when Daniel tells all to Denise and his mother, Lanny. Amy isn’t only panicked to be found out but also red with jealousy when she sees that there is a real spark between Daniel and Denise.

Subsequently, when a stranger appears at Denise’s door one evening, she begins to wrestle with her conscience. Any potential romance between herself and Daniel is put on hold when Denise finds herself embroiled in an attempted murder investigation involving her new friend Lanny, the FBI, and what appears to be doctored evidence. Telling the truth about the stranger’s visit and what it entailed could set Lanny free, but the ramifications of doing so could potentially ruin Daniel’s life. Denise finds herself at the precipice of an impossible decision, with the new life she tried to create for herself hanging in the balance.
